City of Vacaville Arts Advisory Committee

The Arts Advisory Committee was established by the City Council to serve at the pleasure of the Community Services Commission. The Committee carries out the responsibilities assigned to it in the City's Public Art Policy. The Committee's goals include:

- Making arts policy recommendations to the Community Services Commission, and advising on larger issues, including but not limited to long-term goals and objectives
- Facilitating communication and cross-networking between citizens of Vacaville and those organizations and individuals that sponsor, present, and coordinate arts events
- Encouraging and stimulating communications between arts groups in the community and outlying areas
- Promoting and developing the arts and strengthening resources making Vacaville the cultural arts center of Solano County

The Committee is comprised of 7 voting members. One vote is allocated to two representatives from the Community Services Commission. Three votes are allocated to three representatives appointed by the Vaca Arts Council. Three votes are allocated to three "members-at-large," individuals from the community selected by a screening committee. Candidates for members-at-large seats must submit to the Community Services Commission an application and a cover letter containing a history of their involvement with the arts. Please contact the Community Services Department for information about applying for members-at-large seats.

Additionally, Committee members include three "ex-officio members-at-large" chosen by the screening committee from the list of candidates for members-at-large. Committee members also include non-voting representatives from the Director or staff designee of the Community Services Commission, a Board Member from the Chamber of Commerce, and Board Members from the Vacaville Unified School District and the Travis Unified School District.

The Committee meets on the second Tuesday of each month in the Council Chambers at City Hall at 6:00 p.m. Meetings are open to the public. Time is allocated at each meeting for public comment.

Agendas and minutes for Committee meetings are available from the City's web site. Agendas are available 72 hours prior to a meeting. If you want to place an item on the agenda for a meeting, please contact the recording secretary for the Arts Advisory Committee. Minutes are approved at the next Committee meeting subsequent to the meeting of record. Minutes are available 72 hours after approval. Archived minutes are also available from the City's web site.
